Dr. Jamal Watson is an award-winning journalist and historian. He is currently the executive editor of Diverse: Issues In Higher Education, the national trade magazine that covers diversity, access and inclusion in higher education. Watson is also a Lecturer at University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he teaches a variety of courses.

He is completing a forthcoming biography on civil rights leader and MSNBC talk show host, Reverend Al Sharpton and lives with his wife and son in the Washington, D.C. area.

Watson earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Theology from Georgetown University; a Master’s degree from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University; a Master’s degree in Higher Education from the University of Delaware; and a Master’s and Ph.D in Afro-American Studies from the W.E.B Du Bois Department of Afro-American American Studies at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
